Rainer Kropf began his trumpet studies as his major in 2001 at the Music Academiy Nuremberg-Augsburg. In 2005 he completed the studies with an Artist Diploma. (MA equivalent).
He gained experience playing with several orchestras in Munich such as the Bavarian State Opera, State Theater at the Gärtnerplatz, the Munich Symphony and the Klangverwaltung Munich. During 2008 and 2010 he has been a guest solo trumpeter at the City Theater Augsburg.
His outstanding performance as a solo artist got recognition in 2000 being awarded the Cultural Award of the city of Germering. He also won the second price of the brass contest of the Nürmberger Nachrichten.
In 2005 and 2007 he attended two master classes by Maurice André in Spain, which left a lasting impact on his playing style.
In 2006, he produced the CD “OKNA” together with the organist Christoph Hauser. His interpretation of Italian baroque concerts and one of the most important pieces for trumpet and organ of the 20th century (Okna = windows, after Marc Chagall), received tremendous appreciation in a numerous cross-regional concerts.
Furthermore, Rainer Kropf has been a conductor for many years. In 2009, he began an MA studies in Wind Ensemble Conducting (“Master of Arts in Specialized Music Performance”) at the University of Basel, Switzerland, under the guidance of Prof. Felix Hauswirth.
Since February 2011, he is leading the orchestra of the city of Blaubeuren.
